WD40

Meant to tell you that during our beach time on Sunday, William picked up a big glob of tar.

It coated his fingers in big chunks. And as I was trying to help him, I then, also got my own fingers coated in the stuff. I was SO annoyed and kept thinking, "how am I going to pack up all this stuff and get it back to the car (the pretty NEW car) without getting everythig covered in this black stick stuff ?" Not to mention the fact that we still had an hour on the meter and I wanted to make the most of our time at the Beach!!!!

Light Bulb: Lifeguard.

So, in full Mom-mode, I had to go take myself and William and ask the young, tan, lifeguard on duty if he had any baby oil.

Nope.

Then he asked if we had sunscreen. (some sunscreens have baby oil in them).

Now that I'm looking back on this experience, I'm guessing this guy does not have kids b/c who coats themselves, or their kids, in sunscreen with baby oil in it??

Anyway, he went back to the lifeguard hut and came out with a bottle of WD40. Sprayed our hands and after some rubbing the tar dissolved easily. Then sprayed more. After much washing and sand exfoliating the tar was long gone --- leaving William and I stinking like the underside of our car. Which was thankfully spared from any tar residue.

So.....note to self: Beach bag should contain a small baby oil.

Happy Labor Day

Hope everyone is enjoying themselves on this holiday weekend.

We had a great dinner with some friends, Brian golfed while I took the kids to the beach and we also found a new breakfast spot --- the ORIGINAL pancake house in Redondo Beach.

Wish I had remembered my phone b/c the menu was great  ---- MANY different kinds of pancakes. I tried the cinammon raisen and it did NOT disappoint! There were a few other entries that looked enticing ---- and we nearly fell out of our booth when our order arrived ---- HUGE!!!

I'm now logging some hours in for work -- boo!

I have to find a new sitter for the fall, as ours just quit. Boo!

Pearl's leg is doing much better so together, we're going to get on the health train this fall.

It will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes with an early morning again!!

Have a great Monday!!

What a gorgeous day!

Cheer

I am always anxious with new things for my kids. Fortunately, Emily has grown up a lot and she seems willing and excited to tackle new adventures. I have come to realize her stregnths and try to move forward with those.

So, when she said she wanted to do Cheerleading, I was hesitant. Let me start off by saying Cheer is a HUGE commitment. It's $$$. They start in the summer. There's been a full day camp (on a Sunday) and a pep rally (on a Sunday) and now the season is about to "officially" start, she'll continued practices 2x a week and then games on the weekends (at 8 AM!

But I'm really impressed with the Cheer standards. This is no frilly, dancy, not really serious thing. This is a sport. And everyone is to treat it like a sport ---- Cheer has to follow the same standards as the football team. Three tardies and  you're out!

And best of all, Emily seems to like it!!! Yeah!!

Ready for the Pep Rally

Status Report

Yesterday -- William's first full day --- our first parent/teacher/after-school-your-kid-is-in-trouble conference.

Three times he refused to do what the teacher asked. His GREEN card went to a YELLOW. (that is bad)

Apparently it did go back to GREEN by the end of the day. The whole 4.4 hours he had to get through.

UGH.

The teacher was very nice, but together we tried to teach him that he can't do that. Etc. Etc.

On the positive side his card did not go to ORANGE. (very bad) And I live in fear of RED. (the baddest).

I sit here now, with my stomach in a knot.....hoping that child can make it until 12:45 on GREEN.

Oh, and Emily ---- not a whole lot of feedback. Seems to like her teacher. Done.
