Judement + The Moon

north-pole-moon2.jpg

I have been reading a book that came at the perfect moment. It's called The Untethered Soul and It's kind of a self help book. Sort of new age-ish. Oprah was talking about it one day on the radio and the small portion of the show I heard resonated with me.

I am a believer that God (or the Universe...) is always trying to tell us something.

So, on my way to LAX, Brian and I dropped W off at school. (E was already there by that time) And while I was waiting, one of the before-school caregivers was waiting with the kids-who-have-two-full-time-working-parents. She's never made conversation before and since she's not one of the parents I hadn't made much of an effort to get to know her.

I leaned over and told W how much I'd miss him and that I'd give him and E a call or FACE TIME.

The woman leaned over and said,"I used to date a man who lived in another city. We used to talk on the phone and look up at the moon together. We were both looking at the same moon, even though we were in different places."

I literally almost asked if she also wrote poetry in her spare time. It was such a beautiful and sweet sentiment.

Then, a few days later, I was so annoyed that there was traffic in my lane......there was a car broken down at the light and it's owner was standing on the street with a cell phone to her ear. I don't know if it was the look of her car or the look of her, but I was still annoyed ---- even though this woman was dealing with a very stressful situation. I had somewhere to BE!!!!

I look up at the closest store front and the giant sign says "GOODWILL" ----

Ok, I get it. Loud and Clear.

Happy Halloween!!!

I don't know how Halloween has gotten SO big but I fee like we just had a mini-Christmas! For weeks we've been prepping for costumes, looking for pumpkins, decorating the house, etc, etc.

And the day finally arrived.....

pumpkin pancakes!

pumpkin pancakes!

pumpkin sandwich anyone?

pumpkin sandwich anyone?

OK, so this was how I thought it should be  ---- starting the day off with orange pumpkin pancakes and opening your lunch box to find your sandwich cut into a pumpkin shape. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make your pancake batter turn out more orange? I had this same problem on Valentines day.....the batter looked great but when you cooked it, the color faded?

then the REAL work began.....starting at 8:20 am, William's class had their Halloween sing. This year is extra special since I'll never see another child go through Kindergarten. sniff. sniff. It was SO cute1!

At this point, I was pretty tired ---- but with the help of ADVIL, we made it home and with some Halloween luck, Brian got home early!! Emily stayed with him to finish up the decorating and I took William to Main Street for the Halloween Frolic. We had some  friends entering the costume contest and William loves the bounce houses!

PS --- the people of El Segundo take this Frollic seriously. I was more shocked this  year than ever. At the creativity. And at the absolute "Halloween is the time to be your fantasy" attitude. I understand if it was an adult party but there are kids EVERYWHERE. And there were some pretty racy Wonder Women outfits on. before dark. and they were pushing a stroller. But whatever. It's Halloween!!!

AMAZING!! Hedwig, the owl, from Harry Potter!!!

There was a haunted house down the street and Willam actually went through! At this point Emily decided to go home with me to pass candy out. (I"m glad we left when we did b/c our candy bowl was already empty!)

Thanks to our friends and great neighbors who joined us and sat around enjoying a drink while we handed out candy!!!

Passing out candy is a power rush!!

At 9:30 things started to wind down and we called it a night. I can't believe I didn't get any shots of our pumpkins, of Brian dressed with the kids or a great night time shot!!

I guess I was tired............this witch was D-O-N-E!

Cheer -- Games are Over! + cleaning tip no. 1

Hello! happy Monday !!

We made it through our last Sat of 7:30 am check-in for cheer! I have to say a feeling of pure happiness washed over me. Especially since Emily was awake until midnight --- when we asked her why she was keeping herself up she said she was just "excited about Halloween". I don't know how to make that kid sleep!!!

Go EAGLES!!!

Frozen Fridays are a big hit with the kids --- fundraising by the school.

Yummy!

Yummy!

So my addiction to Pinterest continues ---- how to clean glass shower doors.

UGH --- I have tried everything ---- all chemicals --- I swear I gave myself a terrible headache by using some toxic cleaner the other day. But STILL my shower doors looked bad.

BEFORE --- I AM ASHAMED

BEFORE --- I AM ASHAMED

I am not kidding --- what do you do? Well, with a little research you can see how amazing this Pinterest tip find worked......

WOW!!!!

WOW!!!!

I don't know if this picture is really doing it justice --- I mean --- they were 100x better. This pic was taken on the first round and you can see the streak that is where the doors overlap --- I hadn't gotten in there yet.

one part vinegar (warmed) with one part DAWN -- sprayed on.

I used it twice on each door, then followed it with some glass cleaner.

Yowzer!!! They sparkle!!
