The Time Warp Trio is a series by Jon Scieszka --- we've only read this one, Knight of the Kitchen. Three friends are celebrating one of their birthdays when a very special gift is opened --- a magical book. Within moments they are transported to Medieval Times where they must figure out a way to get home. Of course, battles with knights, giants and dragons MUST occur!

I'd say this book is great for an advanced 1st grade reader to a slower 3rd/4th grade reader. I think it's a fun story and we read it out loud in an evening. The writing is easy and the story moves quickly. How can you not enjoy a battle with a knight or dealing with a smelly giant?
